Recycling

Our take-back and recycling system for lead-acid batteries makes a significant contribution to the protection of natural resources.

For us, sustainability begins as early as the product development stage. Our products are developed in such a way that they can be used reliably for a long time and are easy to recycle. We also use environmentally friendly processes and technologies to conserve resources and protect the environment.

We collect used batteries and send them for recycling. The battery components are dismantled in the recycling facilities before the recycling process can begin:

Lead

Lead-containing ingredients and lead oxide are used in the production of new batteries. Later, new lead grids are produced from recycled lead.

Electrolyte

The used electrolyte is converted into sodium sulphate and used as a solid in the production of textiles, glass, cleaning agents and fertilisers.

Plastic granulate

Plastic granulate is produced from the plastic battery casings, which is then used to manufacture new casings.

Proper disposal of your batteries and accumulators

Most batteries can be fully recycled. By disposing of them professionally via Battery-Kutter, you help to protect our resources.
We offer you the following three ways to dispose of your batteries and accumulators professionally:

1. Consumer batteries or portable batteries, e.g. Mignon (AA), Micro (AAA), Baby (C), Mono (D), 9 V blocks or button cells.
Under the following link you can register free of charge for battery disposal: www.wirsammelnbatterien.de

2. Industrial batteries, e.g. lithium cells from individual battery packs
Here, recycling is also carried out via www.wirsammelnbatterien.de.

3. Lead industrial batteries, e.g. AGM, gel or pure lead batteries
We will be happy to take care of the free collection and recycling of your lead batteries. As soon as your disposal pallox is full, please send us an order for collection or for exchange for a new, empty pallox. Please use the following PDF for this.

Please note:

  • Monthly variable reimbursement for the used lead of the disposed lead batteries for collections of 300 kg or more.
  • A minimum quantity surcharge of € 105.00 is payable for collections of less than 300 kg.
  • Your rent-free Palox must be replaced once a year, otherwise an annual rental fee will be charged. For further information contact us.

Further information on taking back and disposing of batteries

The Battery Ordinance regulates the rights and obligations of manufacturers, dealers and consumers in dealing with batteries with the utmost thoroughness. For legal laypersons and in relation to the products we sell, the ordinance states that:

'By selling batteries and rechargeable batteries, or by selling devices containing batteries or rechargeable batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following in accordance with the Battery Ordinance:

1. According to the ‘Ordinance on the Return and Disposal of Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries’, rechargeable batteries and batteries may not be disposed of with normal residual waste under any circumstances.

2. The end user is obliged to return batteries containing harmful substances that are waste to a distributor or to take-back centres set up for this purpose by the public waste disposal authorities.

3. Please take advantage of this free return of your used batteries and rechargeable batteries in collection containers or at a public collection point, such as a municipal recycling centre.

4. Batteries and rechargeable batteries that are labelled with the symbols listed below and were purchased from us, or were replaced by rechargeable batteries purchased from us, can also be sent to us free of charge for professional, free disposal. The old batteries and rechargeable batteries must then be securely and professionally packaged. The contacts must be protected against short circuits (due to the risk of fire).

5. Batteries and rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with one of the following symbols:

  6. The pollutant contained is also indicated under the symbol:
      1. Pb for lead,
      2. Hg for mercury,
      3. Cd for cadmium.
