The highly absorbent microporous separator of the maintenance-free FG lead-acid battery binds a maximum amount of pure electrolyte and permanently isolates the electrodes from each other. This allows the battery to be operated in almost any position, even lying on its side, without loss of capacity. The electrodes are made of a special antimony-free lead alloy. This results in a very low self-discharge of less than 3% per month.
