The PLX pure lead batteries offer a long service life (15 years) under extremely high demands and a shelf life up to two years. Patented by the Hawker company, pure lead batteries consist of a lead-tin mixture (rather than lead+lead-oxide plates) and therefore have lower internal resistance. This in turn produces a higher short circuit current, which means that the battery can last for longer when there is a high current drain.
