Where are lead-acid batteries used?
The areas of application for lead-acid batteries can be divided into mobile and stationary applications.
Stationary lead batteries are generally used as backup batteries for an emergency power supply. The battery is intended to replace the power supply for a certain period of time in the event of a failure.
Stationary lead-acid batteries are usually used in the following areas:
- Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
- Emergency and safety lighting
- Hazard alarm systems (HAS)
- Energy storage systems (ESS)
Mobile lead batteries are used as traction and starter batteries. The lead-acid batteries are used in electric vehicles as traction and in combustion engines as starting support, but also as a power source for the alternator if the engine fails.
Mobile lead-acid batteries are usually used in the following areas:
- Starter batteries
- Traction batteries
- Intralogistics
- Light electric vehicles (LEV)
